Emerald In Orange Win

WOODLANDS - In a grey sky afternoon that threatened follow in the footsteps of yesterday's Malaysian F1 fracas, an Emerald brought glory to the BSRI club by being named part of the team that gloriously clinched the prestigious President SR Nathan Football Challenge Trophy in Republic Polytechnic Stadium.

Syahrul Hatta aka Kaka aka Mr Milan aka THE number 15 aka 'has a #1 fan' man, helped his team National University of Singapore (NUS) dump tournament favourites Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP) in the last hurdle of a marathon season that lasted more than 4 months to accomodate the schedule with the man the tournament was eponymously named. The spectators welcomed the President with huge cheers despite their long wait for the final after the semi-finals concluded over more than two months ago.

It was a typical football showcase of skill versus physical & mental strength. The latter two qualities with which NUS possess to grind out a hard fought 1-0 win over the opponents. Despite missing their talismanic national player, NYP still proved to be threatening in open play with their fancy flicks, one-touch traps and passes. But with German-like precision, tactics & overbearing fitness, NUS managed to break those plays down and created a few chances of their own. One of them, off a short corner, a player managed to float the ball past the NYP keeper and into the net. 1-0 NUS midway in the 1st half. True to fashion, nothing much happened after that except for the barrage of yellows that the referee dished out to both teams to control the players. And one of the NYP players got sent off for a second bookable offence.

In the post-match interview, our very own Hatta said;
"Thanks guys. Thanks for coming. What are you guys doing later?"

Such a grounded player despite reaching the heights of success. From all of us at the blog editorial, we congratulate you =)
